We celebrate 60 years of music here in Lincoln, Logan County, and central IL. We celebrate 268 concerts, hundreds of different performers, a wide range of musical genres and styles and instruments (everything from the penny whistle to the great Chapel organ). We celebrate the board members who have given thousands of hours selflessly to the cause of live music over the past 6 decades. We celebrate the joy that so many concerts have brought us.
Over the past 60 years, the volunteers of the Lincoln Land Concert Association have worked hard to bring quality programs to this auditorium. Unfortunately, despite the valiant efforts of the board and many volunteers, the board has decided that due to the continuing decline in memberships, the Association can no longer continue.
While we have failed to meet our budget the last few years, our savings have kept us going. At this point, we have just enough left to cover this year, but no more. The board, after careful and thoughtful consideration, decided that it would be imprudent to try to continue and risk finishing another season in the red.
The LLCA board is pleased to announce, however, that once we settle our accounts for this concert season our remaining funds will be given to the Lincoln Area Music Society (LAMS) in order to continue to promote music in Lincoln. I would like to recognize the president of LAMS, Donnie Parker, and thank LAMS for their ongoing effort to keep music alive here in Lincoln.
From me, and from the board, we extend to the members and our community, a very heartfelt thank you for your attendance, your support, your cheery words of affirmation after concerts, your willingness to go along with the performers’ attempts to engage you.
Thank you for your love of live music.
